Product Overview

TersOx™ Nutrients-QR is a specialized, fast-acting soluble nutrient blend formulated to stimulate microbial activity in groundwater by providing readily available nitrogen, phosphorus, and essential microbial growth enhancers.

For petroleum hydrocarbon remediation, TersOx™ Nutrients-QR supports aerobic and facultative anaerobic biodegradation by supplying essential macronutrients that are often limiting in impacted groundwater systems. Readily available nitrogen and phosphorus help maintain optimal nutrient ratios for microbial growth, promoting sustained biodegradation of petroleum constituents such as BTEX, naphthalene, and other fuel-related hydrocarbons. When applied as part of a nutrient amendment or co-injected with oxygen-releasing or electron-donor technologies, Nutrients-QR helps accelerate microbial activity, improve treatment efficiency, and support long-term biological stability.

For enhanced reductive dechlorination (ERD) applications, peer-reviewed research has demonstrated the importance of supplying an exogenous nitrogen source. Kaya et al. (2019) reported that the addition of ammonium (NH₄⁺) significantly enhanced biostimulation performance. Specifically, results published in Environmental Science & Technology (2019, 53(24), 14548–14558) showed that NH₄⁺ addition increased cis-1,2-dichloroethene (cDCE)-to-ethene dechlorination rates by approximately five-fold.
